Saint Cirq Lapopie,

Saint-Cirq-Lapopie was elected French people’s favourite village (after a programme on the France 2 channel), and is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

It is situated in the south of the Lot department, 30 km from Cahors, and overlooks the Lot valley, nestled on a 100-metre cliff.


In its narrow medieval streets, you can count 13 historic monuments: the fortified church, the castle ruins, the charming houses…

 

A great figure of French literature, André Breton, lived in this town. Here you can also find local craft museums, and for lovers of nature, exceptional hiking trails, such as the Hallage path, dug into the cliff on the banks of the River Lot.
